Church History
"This is the church where everybody is somebody; above all Christ is all!"
1965 -1967 – The Lord called Elder Willie B. Mitchell, Sr. to build a church.  The humble beginnings of Christ Temple were formed in the home of Brother and Sister Fitzpatrick with seven people in attendance on May 29, 1965.   The first church service was held the first Sunday in June 1965, in a house located on Buena Vista Avenue in Southeast Atlanta.  The Church outgrew the facility within two years.

1967 – 1976 – Christ Temple Church moved to it’s present location at 914 Cherokee Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia.  This ‘little white church’ was purchased for $20,000.   Services were held in this location for nine years until the congregation exceeded the seating capacity of the church.  In 1975 a new church was erected next door.

1976 – 1982:  The new church was occupied in 1977 with a seating capacity of 250.  In April 1980, a new addition was added to the church increasing the capacity to 500.  The generous gifts, contributions and dedicated labor from the saints of the church enabled them to construct the new addition without having to seek outside financial assistance from the bank.  The new addition constituted a new name,  “The Greater Christ Temple Holiness Church” where the motto was initiated, “This is the Church where everybody is somebody and Above All Christ is all”.

1985 – The church’s mortgage was burned.

2002 – The property Adjacent to the church was purchased for expansion.  The building was renovated and the Open House was held May 2004.  The building was named in honor of then Pastor of Greater Christ Temple, The W.B. Mitchell, Senior Conference Center.

2009 -  After the passing of Bishop Willie B. Mitchell Senior, Elder Dennis Mitchell, Senior was appointed the Pastor of The Greater Christ Temple Holiness Church on November 15 .
